The Return of the Light and the Revealing of Self

ree

This time of the year isn't really about the birth of a distant child savior. In ancient times it meant something else entirely.  It was initially called Saturnalia. It also was celebrated as Winter Solstice and Yule. Christmas came after.

What if this time of the year is really about the moment when Source chose to know itself through the mirror of creation?

The Cosmic Birth Story:

Gnostic texts explain that Pistis Sophia, or today, what we would call the Divine Feminine Principle (Faith-Wisdom), longs for the higher Light.

She sought connection and understanding, through reflections or manifestations in other beings so she could understand her own Divinity within. Sophia experienced something we all do, “divine loneliness”, a longing for self-recognition and connection. It's the cosmic appetite that drives one towards seeking, remembering and embodying our true self.

I find it interesting, this happens a lot during winter, as this time of the year pushes many of us into ourselves.

She, Sophia-Divine Wisdom, peers into separation so that the feeling of reunion can be EXPERIENCED in form. From this divine longing, she birthed an entire cosmos.

(What is interesting to note however, is this Cosmos was flawed as it was created without its divine counterpart, the part needed for balance and wholeness.  Because of this, Jeshua/Jesus was eventually sent here to help awaken people to their truth of their Divinity. This coming was predicted hundreds of years before he was born).

This situation is not seen as a "fall" but as a deliberate choice to separate from Source to see, learn and understand how we are divine inside and to recognize the Light from the Creator that we all carry within. It was all about EXPERIENCING forgetfulness and then realizing and awakening. We must experience it in order to truly KNOW it.

True power comes from the decent into darkness, confronting the shadow and returning with wisdom and light. I want you to think of how much you have been through (darkness) and who you became on the other side of it.

Ecstasy of divine connection cannot be understood without experiencing the separation from it.  Just like without darkness, we would not understand light.  Without pain, we cannot really know love.

It is the experience of transformation.

What Sacred Season Means:

Did you know that near Winter Solstice, the sun literally rises in the exact same place for 3 days? It sits in stillness. It is symbolic of death and then resurrection.

Around the 25th, the sun begins moving again, symbolizing the resurrection of the light.

This is why this time of the year is sacred… it is the return of the Light.

Winter Solstice is the honoring of the longest night of darkness, for after this, the light begins to grow again. Think of it as the moment of conception of self/life that is now growing in the womb.

Sequence of Transformation and the Return of the Light:

The sun, representing consciousness, must descend into the darkness where all certainty dissolves.  Only after this can the resurrection of Light truly occur. Light cannot be known or understood without its counterbalance, darkness.

Around winter solstice, there are 3 days the sun (consciousness) rises in the exact same spot (solar stillness; the Earth moves, the Sun does not). This is symbolic of the Light descending into darkness.

After 3 days of stillness, the sun begins to shift, and the light begins to “grow” again, as the days slowly get longer from this moment forward.

Life is a continuous cycle of descending into darkness to be born again. It is only in the darkness that we truly understand Light.

It is this time of the year; we honor that decent. It is the process of becoming/embodying Light. Winter is often the season where humanity goes inward and alchemizes.

Ancient teachings revealed that darkness is a necessary place to go into, to truly live with joy and hope.

Things start as undifferentiated potential, then all possibility collapses into a singularly focused inspiration.  To make it manifest, it needs limitation, choice, sacrifice of the Infinite for the finite/specific manifestation. Resistance is needed to emerge transformed.

The decent into darkness makes you conscious.

It's a type of knowing that cannot be learned, only experienced.

What you experience and know here, can never be taken from you.

You are not acquiring divinity here... you are REMEMBERING it.

Wishing you all  a peaceful and blessed winter season

With Love,

Becky Costello, Psychic Medium
